BURN's categories and answers are generated from open lexical data — never typed in by hand. Each category is a node in the WordNet noun taxonomy; its answers are the words beneath it. Curated rules only decide which concepts make clear prompts and remove confusing or offensive pairs. Every puzzle is checked by a solver before anyone plays it.

  • Wikidata (CC0) categories are supported by the import pipeline and added when a snapshot is fetched.
  • Fonts: Jersey 15, Press Start 2P, Silkscreen and JetBrains Mono (SIL Open Font License), self-hosted via Fontsource.
  • Sound: every effect is synthesised live with the Web Audio API.
  • Fire: a low-resolution rendition of the classic PSX Doom fire algorithm.
